Just now i realised how much more there's to explore besides Hi-Sec. OUCH practise what they preach, and that covers a lot more than just making u feel at ease when jumping through hostile environments. Glad i signed up, because there is a ton of information you can learn from these guys.
Hope to greet you as a fellow student. o7 |

Some things in EVE will leave a very strong memory.
The first time you get kicked around by another player is probably a very good example of one of those memories.
Bad luck you say? I should have trained more Skill Points you say? I was in a frigate and outgunned by a cruiser you say?
Wrong, guess again....
EVE is about awareness, awareness of your environment, the abilities of the ship you fly, the fitting it got, the abilities of the ship your opponent is flying, knowing when to fight and when to make your getaway.
Let us help you expanding your memories with getting that first kill or that breathtaking escape from a gate camp.
OUCH students often agree upon the fact OUCH opened up doors to more ways of awareness ingame. But OUCH is more than just a few tricks to have up your sleeve, we are all about 0 sec survival. Handing you the tools on how to do so.
So... if you would like to explore low and 0 sec more without being oblivious of what it is all about, do yourself a favour. Join OUCH as a student, we are here to help you achieve all that.
Simply hit the apply button or pop into our recruitment channel; OUCH-UNI, if you still have some questions. |

Let me tell you a story about a newby that joined EVE with a brand new account and character.
This newby played a couple of days solo, trying to wrap his mind around the sandbox that EVE represents. Soon after that he joined a very small PVE corp wich expanded his game experience by a lot. He trained up for cruisers and not very long after that he flew a battleship, being a Dominix. After five months of playing he was raping lvl 4 security missions solo in a shiny battleship and thought he was king of the hill doing so. After all, he now had a proper skill set and knew all to well about EVE-Survival etc. etc. etc..... But eventually it became a grind, doing the same sh*t over and over and over again. So he explored other facets of the game, he had a sniff of PI did some exploring, ventured into wormholes. But he was not satisfied with the game he played because he knew he was missing out on something. He was actually a bit scared to plunge into the voids of low and 0.0 security space. So... he did his homework, reading up on the forums, absorbing information, being in recruitment channels to look for corporations that could offer him a training ground and the help he needed so bad. One day he stumbled upon a recruitment thread of a corporation that offered him a chance to do so. He was reading the thread carefully because he suspected a catch.... This corporation not only offered an extensive training program, but they did not asked for anything in return. What was the deal here?... no API requirements, no certain amount of Skill Points requirements, no fees for the course.... Because he was told many times to maintain a certain level of paranoia ingame he thought it was too good to be true. Reading the thread some more and asking questions in their channel our newby finally joined. And the corporation? Yes that was the Open University of Celestial Hardship allright.
This newby used to be me if you had not guessed it by now... I never could have imagined there was so much more in EVE for me to explore. Participating in PVP in 0.0 security space is a rush, it really gets the adrenaline pumping. Outsmarting a fellow space pilot in PVP gives so much more satisfaction over owning Angel Extravaganza including the bonus room at lvl 4 for the 100th time....
So if i can make the plunge why cant you? I am a very average MMO player, i do not consider myself elite in EVE. In fact i consider myself far from it, why? because i am still learning. Yes i did graduated with OUCH but that does not mean i stopped learning... Having said that im often amazed by what i now consider bad judgement calls or fvckups even, from the guys i am fighting in Curse. Wich made me realise that the things concerning PVP im taking for granted now were not so obvious at first. And you know what? A lot of information that OUCH handed me down still seems like a magic trick to other PVP'ers overhere. That includes the older experienced ones. There is no magic to it, its being aware of what is possible and what is not.
After my graduation i was accepted into the Operations Department of OUCH wich is reserved for permanent members. Nowadays i am flying alongside the guys that teached me my first classes and yes that still makes me feel proud. As a matter of fact, last sunday i teached my first class myself.
So let me sum this up for you.
Join OUCH.
Expand your game.
Become more aware.
And have a blast flying in the cold deep voids of 0.0 security space!
P.s. feel free to stop by at out recruitment channel if you still have some questions left. OUCH-UNI |

I like to point out in response to Andski's "Building a Newbie Program" (excellent post btw), there's also a third party option.
Have your new recruits trained by corporations that are well known for doing this. OUCH is a good example of a dedicated 0 sec space training corporation.
So when they return they obviously dont have a heap of skill points but they are familiar with stuff like setting up overview, bookmarking, tackling, scouting and fleet comms.
Saving your corporation/alliance a lot of time to teach them pvp more in depth in relation to your desired fleet composition.
Let OUCH be you third party training corporation. |

You think Hi-Sec is a safe place? Think again... Non-consensual pvp will find you eventually in EVE, it is only a matter of time...
If you can travel around in hostile 0 sec space, knowing you have the tools to avoid or choose your fights, Hi Sec should be a walk in the park.
So do yourself a favour, pick up the necessary tools with OUCH and travel with (more) confidence around New Eden.

No strings attached whatsoever.
We are an Open University, no SP requirements, no paying isk for classes, no API key needed. So what's in it for us? Nothing really, we are just a bunch of guys that like to pass down what we have learned from our instructors before us. When you are done with your training you are free to move on as you please, no obligations.
So, look us up, if you have any questions you can chat with a recruiter / instructor in our public channel; "OUCH-UNI".

We pretty much fail at being forum tigers... I guess that's part of the reason we are still one of New Eden's best kept secrets.
So if you are looking for a structured environment to learn the ways of 0-sec dwellers. OUCH is just the place for you. We teach all the needed skills to do barrelrolls, backflips and God knows what more to escape your adversaries. OUCH's prime focus is on 0-sec survival with a sniff of pvp to top it off.
We excell at that, we truly do. No hidden agenda, SP requirements, interviews, we are an Open University after all.
Looking forward to greet you in corpchat, no scratch that we actually hate corpchat... The students that run our complete course are typically the ones that make it over to TS. So a working headset, Ts3 and the willingness to learn are actually the only requirements I can think of.

L.S.
Most EVE players know there is a certain code of conduct amongst spacewarriors. One versus one's should always be honoured. The use of ECM during fights is considered unmanly tactics. Real PVP'ers roam instead of sitting at a gatecamp for hours on end. Man hold their ground, even if this means they are outnumbered by a 2:1 or even worse ratio. You could say this is the way of spacebushido. If a pilot for whatever reason fails to live up to rules like some I mentioned above. He or she should start the act of seppuku immediately. This is the only way to save your face in the cold harsh universe that is New Eden.
OUCH is very often accused of ignoring those terms. But then again OUCH does not care if a neutral pilot is ECM'd to death. OUCH does not mind to flee the field like chickens chased by the fox. OUCH pilots are rather lazy and prefer their targets warping in. The typical OUCH pilot has never heard of the Battle of Thermopylae. And last but not least, the typical OUCH pilot just loves the colourfull terms and expressions pop into local after the succesfull destruction of spaceships on their behalve. I guess everyone plays his own EVE.
OUCH's behaviour can be summarized into the will to control the battlefield. We like to fight on our terms. After all our motto is; "Kill more, die less".
So there you have it, the main focus of OUCH is survival first and foremost. That and awareness, know your limitations and theirs.
In short, don't fly stupid. |
